Fellowship

YAL (Young Adult League)

YAL is a group of young adults, ages 18-35, focusing on fellowship, witness, worship and service. YAL meets monthly on a Thursday evening and other specified times. Activities include fellowship at meals together, service projects, and various gatherings for activities to foster a sense of community.

GOYA (6th through 12th Grade)

GOYA seeks to help our youth continue to develop their spiritual lives in the Church and their relationship with God through the circles of Fellowship, Worship, Witness and Service. GOYAns meet regularly for service projects, Orthodox Life sessions with the priest, participate in the Liturgical life of the Church, and attend retreats and camps.

JOY (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)

JOY is a ministry geared towards children who are Elementary School Age. JOY meets once a month for a lesson with the priest, arts, crafts, games and fun outings.

St. Stephen’s Senior Society

A ministry geared towards the fellowship of our senior adults. They meet once a month on a Tuesday for lunch and a guest speaker or activity. Contact: Ithaca LaBrec. (615) 383-1700, Ithaca.labrec@yahoo.com

Worship

Altar Servers:

Boys and Men who help serve in the Altar during the services of the Church. They learn how to use and care for the Holy Vessels that are used for the Divine Services and assist the clergy.

Choir

The purpose of the choir is to serve the Parish Community in prayer by singing hymns, songs and spiritual songs to the glory of the Lord. All are welcome.

Chanters and Readers

To learn and execute Byzantine chant for many services of the Church. The Chanters also study the services and their proper order, growing in their faith by learning the theological content of the hymns and the readings. The Chanters consist of both readers and chanters – all newcomers are welcome.

Bible Study

Inquirer’s Class (101 Class, Adult Catechism)

The purpose of this class is to educate attendees in the Orthodox Christian Faith. It is taught by the Parish Priest and is a necessary step in joining the Orthodox Church. Meets regularly on Wednesday evenings.

Church School

Our catechetical education program for youth 3 years until 12th Grade. Classes are grouped together based on age. The purpose is to learn our Holy Orthodox Christian Faith and Traditions.

Vacation Church School

A one week adventure with Elementary aged children ages 5 – 12 exploring our faith through prayer, activities, arts, crafts and lessons during the Summer Vacation. Meets one week M-F from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. To Be Announced annually in the spring time.

Christmas Pageant

On the Sunday before Christmas – the children and youth of the Parish put on the Christmas pageant for the enjoyment of the Parish Community.  Contact – Chairperson of the Pageant

Greek School

To learn how to speak, write and read the modern (demotic) Greek Language. Greek School meets once a week.

Serving the Community

Visitations Ministry

The Purpose of this ministry is to visit those who are shut in at home or are in Nursing Homes. This provides and maintains a living connection between the Church and the individual.

Loaves and Fishes

An outreach ministry of Holy Trinity that supports the work of Loaves and Fishes at Holy Name Catholic Church. Every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday the Loaves and Fishes program provides a hot midday meal to the hungry and homeless in East Nashville. Our local support for Loaves and Fishes hosts the lunch every month that has a fifth Saturday, together with members from St. Ignatius Antiochian Orthodox Church.

St. Sampson’s Clinic

Inspired by St. Sampson the Hospitable, this Nashville, TN medical clinic is being established to provide rheumatology care to uninsured adults.

St. Ypomoni Philoptochos (Friends of the Poor) Society of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church

The purpose and aims of the Philoptochos society are to: aid the poor and disadvantaged through philanthropic assistance, to support the national Philoptochos philanthropic endeavors, to preserve and perpetuate Orthodox Christian concepts and the Orthodox Christian family and to be involved in the activities of the Local Parish together with the Parish Priest and the Parish Council.

Leading

Parish Council

To serve on a Parish Council is a ministry and all those who serve are called to represent Christ and the Orthodox Faith to all whom they meet in all aspects of life. The Parish Council shall consist of the Priest, as the head of the Parish, and a number of elected lay members fixed by the Parish Bylaws or by local statute according to the needs of the Parish. The Parish Council is responsible to the Parish Assembly and to the respective Hierarch for conducting all Parish affairs in keeping with the mission, aims and purposes of the Church as set forth in the Charter and these Regulations. The Parish Council shall be deemed to mean also Board of Trustees or Board of Directors when such designations are required by local statute. The Priest shall be a non-voting member of the Parish Council.

The Parish Council also oversees several committees:

Scholarship Committee – provides funding for an annual $1,000.00 per year scholarship to qualified students. Chair: Bill Phillips

Building Committee – works in conjunction with the Parish Council to implement building projects on behalf of the parish community. Co-chairs: Mike Delvizis and Demetri Pagonis

Iconography Committee – works in conjunction with the Local Metropolitan and Parish Priest to implement new iconography for the Church.  Chair: John Billo

Maintenance Committee – works in conjunction with the Parish Council to maintain the facilities and grounds.

Finance Committee – works with the Parish Council and PC Treasurer and is responsible for the accounting and financial organization and reporting of the Parish.

Fundraising

Parish Festival

A parish wide event geared towards sharing ethnic Food, Culture and Customs of our parish with the greater Nashville area. This includes Greek folk dancing, music, Church tours, food prep and service, pastry prep and service, tent and electrical set up and tear down, etc. Everyone is needed.
